IRPN

Individual Risk Priority Numbers (IRPN) is another method used to determine the SIL of Cause-Consequences within the HAZID Framework Process Safety Product and are created by clicking on the Add IRPN button, this opens the IRPN Setup Menu. Selecting a IRPN Chart and clicking on the Edit IRPN button will open the IRPN Menu for the selected IRPN. Note that a previously created IRPN has been used for the purposes of this guide.

There are several actions that can be carried out to create/edit a Risk Matrix:

  1. The Administrator enters the Name of the IRPN Chart here.
  2. The Administrator enters the Author for the IRPN Chart here. (If required)
  3. The Administrator enters the Description for the IRPN Chart here. (If required)
  4. The Administrator selects which SIL Table they wish to link to the IRPN Chart from the drop down list.
  5. The Associated SIL Chart is Displayed here.
  6. The Administrator selects which IRPN Component they wish to enter data for from the drop down list.
  7. The Administrator enters the Value for the IRPN here.
  8. The Administrator enters the Name for the IRPN here.
  9. The Administrator enters the Description for the IRPN here.
  10. The Administrator creates the IRPN in the List by clicking on the "Create" button,
  11. The Developed IRPN Table - this displays the full IRPN table, as it will be used to determine SIL Requirements in the Hazop
  12. The Administrator can Save the IRPN Chart Using the Save button.
  13. The Administrator can Cancel saving the IRPN Chart/Abandon any changes made to an existing IRPN Chart Using the Cancel button.

The Delete IRPN button is used to quickly delete a IRPN Chart. However, deleted IRPN Charts are not removed from the database, and can be restored by selecting them and clicking on the Restore IRPN button.

The Import IRPN button allows the Administrator to import a IRPN Chart from an existing Hazop study.
